A healthcare provider was storing sensitive patient and operational data across multiple systems with no consistent security controls or clear governance. We designed a secure, centralized cloud data environment with proper access controls and data governance — giving the client confidence that sensitive data was protected and only accessible to the right people.
Objective
The goal of this project was to give the client a secure, well-governed cloud data environment for sensitive patient and operational data — replacing a patchwork of systems with inconsistent access controls with a single, properly managed foundation built around data protection from the ground up.
The Challenge
Our client, a healthcare provider, had sensitive patient and operational data spread across multiple systems, with inconsistent — and in some cases unclear — access controls. There was no centralized way to manage who could see what, no clear audit trail, and growing concern about how well the current setup could support the organization as it scaled and took on more data.
Given the sensitivity of the data involved, this wasn't a project where "good enough" was acceptable — data protection had to be built in from the start, not added as an afterthought.
Strategy
Step 1 — Assess before building. We started with a full review of where sensitive data currently lived, who could access it, and where the biggest security gaps existed — before proposing any changes.
Step 2 — Design governance around real roles. Rather than applying generic access rules, we mapped out the client's actual team structure and designed permissions around who genuinely needed access to which data, and why.
Step 3 — Centralize, then monitor. Once data was consolidated into a secure cloud environment, we put ongoing monitoring in place, so data quality and access remained reliable long after the initial setup.

Data Governance & Access Control Role-based access controls were established so that only authorized personnel could view sensitive patient and operational data, with clear boundaries defined around each role.
Data Quality & Security Monitoring Ongoing monitoring was put in place to catch inconsistencies and flag potential access issues early, rather than relying on periodic manual review.
